But I’m certainly not going to pass it up. Good practice to figure things out.
Lately I’ve been doing a lot more creatively. Definitely a bit of a mess focus-wise, but I’m making a lot of progress on improving things.
Most of my characters are from a setting created by someone else, and it shows. But all the creators have given me their blessing to continue.
For a long time, i didn’t make many changes to them, as I wanted to be somewhat faithful to the original canon they had created. But my recent RP plot I ran was…gratifying. I exceeded on so many of my personal performance metrics that actually I’m a bit terrified I set a bar that I can’t expect to jump over all the time.
And while I did have help, I think I did do a lot of things that were relatively good practice, but the big thing that would be most relevant is that I realized that I don’t need to be shackled to the creative vision of a creator that’s been absent for 10 or more years. I’m in charge now, I get to decide what happens, and if the story I want to tell conflicts with the original creator’s vision, well, they gave me permission to run my own instance and I make the rules.
I’ll talk about the settings a bit more soon, I think. For now I’ll tease you with the name of the one I ran the plot in, “Sundered Shroud“. Hope that gets your mind working. Later!
