Managing Productivity

I used to be horrible about achieving things.

This may sound like a joke, but it’s true. Back around 2013, a few people got me into Habitica (then HabitRPG) and its use to tick off Daily tasks and To-Dos actually really helped me. The difference was so stark that I actually got questions from people about what I was ‘doing differently’.

I’ve continued to use it since; I know there are others and I’m also aware of Habitica’s current leadership’s issues, but at this point I’m a bit locked in. But I feel I’ve been slipping. I have a lot of things I want to get done, but never seem to make enough progress.

Some of this is chunking issues, where the task is framed in a way that there’s no way to complete it easily. Others…well, if this was only for tasks that were for my own pleasure, it’d be fine.

But a lot of the things I want to do involve others, and I’m finding myself flooded. And not even for good reasons; my ADHD makes me wander off and do things that aren’t productive and lose focus on things. And then I fall behind and feel I’m letting people down.

Part of this was that I was overbooked in time, and to an extent I still am, but I’ve been slowly removing some commitments to staunch the bleeding there. But even with less Stuff to do, I’m still not achieving.

I’m thinking about revamping the tasks, but does anyone else have thoughts? How do YOU manage your time?
