Given how many bosses are salivating at the prospect of replacing paid human workers with AI, even if the AI doesn’t work (and never will, if Sam Altman introducing a silicon shortage is any indication of how it’s going), I can’t blame these theoretical workers for not sharing.
Any time in my job I’ve proven competent it either resulted in extra work and responsibility for me (with no additional pay). And if I share my secrets, they get stolen and used for credit, or in one case as a kid, the knowledge (which was somewhat malicious) being used and the blame pinned on me.
The ultimate problem is the companies want us all to be undyingly loyal to them, but not to extend that back. And nah, I learned that lesson. Fuck you, pay me.
