Just a quick blurb about Faenya in my “Wings and Prayers” setting. Writing it down here to build off of later.
Faenya is NOT a primary mover and shaker in the greyhawk theme, she’s a elven god of avariel in core canon.
And given the Thorsari OBVIOUSLY got suboptimal land placement, here’s my pitch.
THe world was created, yadda yadda. Faenya at some point yearns for a race of her own, but the game’s already in session, so to speak.
So she seeks to create the Thorsari with approval from higher gods.
Sometime around the fall of the Suel empire when the Sea of Dust and Dry Steppes are created, or maybe some other cataclysm, the Hellfurnace mountains are covered in essentially a nuclear winter from that. That’s when they are placed there, because Player Defeated opens up table space. And then Faenya smites open the mountains for fire for warmth, and pierces the clouds to reveal the sun, thus the mythos of sun and volcanoes and storms. Since volcanic eruptions also cause thunderstorms.
Wanted to do more today but got some good news that took some time. More to come!
